The firm’s Laura Benitez Geisler, Jody Rodenberg and Sean McCaffity are leading a trial team in the continued successful representation of a former Quitman, Texas police officer allegedly fired in a retaliatory move by several local officials. The Fifth U.S. Court of Appeals recently upheld a lower court’s denial of a motion for summary judgment in the case sought by a former district attorney, district court judge, sheriff and mayor in Wood County.
The federal discrimination lawsuit claims the public officials conspired to fire the former officer after he entered an affidavit in support of a change of venue motion filed by a former jailer in a separate action.
The case is Terry Bevill v. James Wheeler et al, No. 23-40321 in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The Texas Lawbook has more details.
